I don't know how and why things happen, but I remember when Medhā asked me to join her and her best friend for a cooking class this particular evening, I remember already making up my mind instantly - I don't do 'yes' very much.
I don't profess to be any good at cooking, but I thoroughly enjoyed learning about dicing onions, rolling lemons, the existence of tahini, how Greek yogurt actually works with beetroot and mint leaves, and who can forget olive oil, lemon juice, and salt - always salt.
A tidbit - the host is someone I'd actually met and shared drinks with on a kelong off the coast of Mersing, Malaysia. She was with her then-boyfriend (now husband) whom I'd recognised first then, and their friends. That was a whole 4 years ago. See that trip here.
Incidentally, the world being tiny as a concept permeated throughout the entire night.
Jayne took us on a journey of discovery over a table of wine and grub, from Mexico City to Punjab with friends old and new.
